Art in March

á
In March, students continue to create wonderful artwork.
Spring is on its way, and with spring comes St. Pius V School's annual Art Fair!
The 2017 Art Fair is Tuesday night, May 9th, from 6:00-7:30pm.
I can't wait to see all the beautiful artwork hanging in the halls!

á á ááKindergarten studentsáare currently learning about pattern.ááThey are creating mosaic color patterns on cut-outávases that have beautiful flower drawings sprouting from them!á1stágraders areálearning how to make self-portraits, and are being introduced to watercolor paint techniques as well!

2nd Graders are creatingáunique Aztec-style suns with faces and intricate designs. á3rd graders are learning about Aboriginal Art, and they are making great dot-patterned artworks inspired by the culture. á4th graders areáapplying what they know about perspective to create oil pastel drawings of the ocean with a real sense of depth. á

5th graders are experimenting with collage, and are creating artwork made entirelyáfrom cut up papers.á 6th graders are studying Impressionism, and creating their own Impressionist landscape paintings.

Junior High students are learning how to use charcoal to create realistic shading.á 7th graders are using charcoal toádraw self-portraits with dramatic shadows.á 8th graders areáfirst using clay to make sculptures of mythical creatures, and then using charcoal to draw landscapes that portrayáthese fictional creaturesáin their environments. á

Ourá7tháandá8thágraders really enjoyed our field trip
to Boston's Museum of Fine Arts in December,
áwhere we viewed and discussed lots of artwork and artists
